About BPI
Bumbershoot Productions, Inc. (BPI) was founded in 1980 by Texas maverick entrepreneur Johnny Langdon, who now runs Bumbershoot with film industry veterans, Susan O'Connell and Carolyn Pfeiffer. Bumbershoot manages the acquisition of theatrical rights to literary properties and original material and underwrites the development of these projects, always with a commitment to the creation of engaging and memorable films.
Bumbershoot's mission is to bring to life thought-provoking films that feature unique, energetic, and visionary characters who inspire and sometimes incite their audiences.
A Confederacy of Dunces
BPI acquired the film rights to the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel A Confederacy of Dunces in October of 1982 and subsequently sold the rights to Paramount Pictures in 1993. Johnny Langdon, Susan O'Connell, and Carolyn Pfeiffer will be involved in the film's production.
The Pro
Based on the novel by Mike Shropshire, The Pro is a comedy about a trio of misfits who sign up for the PGA Senior's Golf Tour. The novel was published to great acclaim in 2001 and released in paperback in 2002.
Empire Man
An original screenplay by writer/director Rod Taylor, Empire Man tells the story of a Texas underdog and self-made multi-millionaire who shows everyone how to awaken their "inner king" and ends up in the US Senate.
Winnie
Winnie is the tale of a wealthy "outsider" who shakes up the status quo and changes corporate America. Based on an original story by Johnny Langdon, Susan O'Connell, and writer/director Stefan Schaefer.
The Hidden Agenda
Writer/director Alan Rudolph is creating an original dark comedy centering around rich and powerful men who get together in nature to ply alcohol and plot world events.
Clay Allison
Caught in a corrupt New Mexico land-grabbing war, standup gunfighter Clay Allison finds himself in a life-threatening power struggle with the Santa Fe Ring. Based on true events, writer Mike Shropshire is developing this original screenplay for BPI.
